Norovirus Outbreak

Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and Lydney and District Community Hospital

A number of wards are currently closed at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital due to an outbreak of norovirus. Lydney and District Community Hospital is also closed for the same reason.

As a precautionary measure to protect patients and control the spread of the illness, members of the public are asked not to visit relatives and friends on Avening Ward at Cheltenham General Hospital and on Ward 4B and part of Gallery Ward at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Exceptions can be made for relatives visiting on compassionate grounds. These visitors are asked to call ahead, or speak to a member of staff on entering the ward.

The visiting restrictions will be reviewed every day and lifted as soon as possible.
